  1. I PLAYED CLASS D STATES IN 2007 CAN I DROP DOWN TO CLASS F FOR STATES IN 2008. OR CAN I PLAY BOTH CLASS C AND CLASS F IN 2008? HOW DOES IT WORK?

    Comment by MT — December 26, 2007 #

  2. MT:

My name is jerry hanson, executive Director of the MASA.

Your question is can I play in both Class C and Class F?

In league play, you can play in as many different classifications as you want. However, in state tournament play, you can play in only one classification within a division.

Therefore, if you play in the class C state tournament, you cannot play in the class F state tournament, because you can only play in one calssification within a division of play.

Once you sign in at a state tournament, that is the classification that you have elected to play.

Hope thst this answers your question.

Thank you for using this blog.

  5. My team placed 3rd in class d states in 2007. The team is breaking up. Do the individual players have to move up to class c or can they play any class.

  6. David,All of the MASA state tournaments are listed on our masasoftball.org web site. In the left hand column of our home page, scroll down to state championships to find them.

    gametime,
For any classification issues, you should contact the MASA commissioner in your area. There has been a slight change in the classification process and those questions are best answered by your district commissioner or our Executive Director, Jerry Hanson.

  11. My women’s slow-pitch team will be playing in the state tournament in Class E in Grand Rapids at the end of this month (Michigan). I was thinking the date of the tournament is the weekend of July 25-27. Is that correct? I couldn’t find a listing of the dates and locations of the tournaments on the masasoftball.org website. Please help.

  13. My question is for Jerry Hanson I was told by John Harris to ask you! We won coed class B states in Corunna and are looking to go to nationals in Ga. What is the pick-up player rule for that? I have a few guys that can go and they played class C coed states and won but there are no nationals for class c. Would i be able to pick those players up? if so how many? Our team at states only has 4 players from that roster would be able to go to nationals.

  19. WHY DO WE HAVE THE POINT SYSTEM IN ASA? U HAVE BADATUDES AND LENCO C.U PLYAING AGAINST EACH OTHER IN THE FIRST GAME. THOSE TEAMS FINISHED 1ST AND 2ND IN THE FIRST QUALIFIER IN ADRIAN. THAT CANT BE RIGHT HOW DOES THIS POINT SYSTEM REALLY WORK? I AM STARTING TO SEE WHY ASA IS GETTING SMALLER AND NSA IS GETTING MUCH BIGGER. PLUS FOR ALL U ASA PLAYERS WHO DONT KNOW, IF U WIN A GRAND SLAM OR A QUALIFIER IN NSA U WIN MONEY TOWARDS ANOTHER TOURNAMENT LIKE STATES OR WORLDS. ASA NEEDS TO STEP IT UP JMO!

  21. I played in the Class D fastpitch state in Port Huron last weekend. The tournament was well run, but I have one negative. All the games were played on slowpitch / modified fields. I feel this takes away from the game tremendously as far as defense goes in the outfield. Routine flys fall in, and in the gap doubles = triples or ISP-HR. I played “open” for over 30 yrs and never recall playing meaningful games on slowpitch fields. If we must play on these fields, can we not at least have temp fences put up at fastpitch distances? This is no refelection on Port Huron, the fields were in good condition, just the distances are not condusive to fastpitch.

  22. do we know locations for next years state tournaments yet? specifically class D?

    Comment by jeremy — September 6, 2008 #

  23. in regard to the point system - have you read what it does gametime? if you are thinking its for seeding or w/e, you are wrong - teams that play in qualifiers play in qualifiers for a reason, probably not your best teams gonna be at states, so two teams who do well in a qualifier no one really cares where they play each other in the state tournament - if anyone gets seeded it should be the teams who did well last year but arent move up teams

congratulations to lenco anyways, whoever they are nice finish

  24. gametime who cares, its class F
